Advance Your Expertise in School Nurse PK-12

The School Nurse PK-12 certificate prepares registered nurses to meet the health needs of children in diverse school settings, from elementary through high school. In Pennsylvania, completion of an approved School Nurse PK 12 Certificate program is required to practice as a school nurse. This program fulfills the educational requirements for the School Nurse Certificate (Education Specialist 1) issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE). Designed for BSN graduates and students or graduates of MSN, DNP, or PhD programs, this certificate provides both foundational knowledge and hands-on preparation. Delivered fully online, the program offers flexibility while maintaining rigor. Upon completion, you will be eligible to apply for the PDE School Nurse Certificate and be well-prepared for future professional milestones, including the National Certification Examination for School Nurses (NCSN), administered by the NBCSN after 1,000 hours of practice. Graduates leave ready to apply nursing knowledge, skills, and abilities in the care of children and adolescents across PK-12 schools.
