Advance Your Expertise in Superintendent Letter of Eligibility

The Superintendent’s Letter of Eligibility graduate certificate prepares you to become the top administrator in K-12 public and private schools. Offered in a hybrid format with coursework mostly online and an in-person class once a month, the 24-credit program emphasizes vision and transformational leadership, relationship leadership and governance, and the competent management of resources. Students complete a three-credit internship in central office administration. Graduates are prepared for the Superintendent PK-12 Letter of Eligibility from the Pennsylvania Department of Education, and all credits can be applied toward Pitt’s Doctor of Education (EdD) in Education Leadership.

Eligibility

Valid teaching certificate; minimum of 5 years teaching experience; administrative or supervisory experience in K-12 schools; bachelor's degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA. No GRE required.

What to Expect in Your Classes 

This program offers coursework in education leadership, human resources, management, education policy, and a central-office internship, totaling 24 credits. All coursework is delivered in a hybrid format, giving you the flexibility to study from anywhere. Classes run for about 15 weeks, allowing you to complete the program in 20 months. Students will study part-time.
