Advance Your Expertise in Family Nurse Practitioner

Pitt Nursing’s hybrid Master of Science in Nursing with a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) concentration prepares registered nurses to provide comprehensive primary care across the lifespan, from newborns to older adults, in outpatient settings such as primary care clinics, urgent care, and telehealth. Delivered through fully online coursework combined with three on-campus immersions, the 59-credit program spans six terms (about two years) and includes 780 clinical hours, exceeding state and national minimums, with school-managed clinical placement support near students’ home communities. Emphasizing evidence-based practice and autonomous decision-making, the program addresses primary care provider shortages and prepares graduates for the most versatile and in-demand NP role.

Eligibility

BSN degree and current RN licensure required. No prior NP experience required.
